Joe and Diana Yun

Our Journey

Ever since our first year as undergraduate students at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, our lives haven’t been the same. Both of us were transformed by the Gospel and grew in our faith as we were discipled through Harvest Mission Community Church.

As we learned how to walk with Christ, we served our church in various capacities and leadership roles. All the while, we also developed our passions and sense of specific calling. Between 2011-2012, we both pursued the calling to serve the church as staff members and began leading, teaching, and preaching God’s Word. As we saw the Word of God lived out through our church, we were both utterly convinced that the Gospel had to go to all the nations.

In 2013, Pastor Joe first received the call to move to Singapore and serve the local church that was planted in 2010. He moved to Singapore at the end of 2014 while Diana finished her seminary studies in the US and closed out her time there. 11 days after our wedding, we both moved to Singapore, where we have been learning how to depend on God, be husband and wife, and lead a church together! We praise God for His timing and provisions - we're also happy to share that we found out that we are expecting our first child this year!

Prayer Requests

  • Faith - Pray for our intimacy with God. Pray that we would continually and joyfully trust in God to lead us, lead the church, and to empower us to live out His calling faithfully.
  • Family - Pray for our marriage – as a young couple, we’re striving to grow in love and “one-ness” as husband and wife. Pray for the health of our first child we’re expecting near the end of 2016, and that we’d depend on God as first-time parents.
  • Funds - Pray that God will provide for our family’s financial needs. As missionaries, we need to raise financial support to serve God’s calling. Singapore is an expensive place - it has been listed as the most expensive city in the world 3 years in a row by the Economist Intelligence Unit. With the new addition to our family, our financial needs have increased as well.
  • Focus - Pray that we’d be faithful to everything God is calling us to as we shepherd our church, reach the lost with the Gospel, train and raise up leaders, and grow as a family.

Support Information

Why are we raising funds?

Our current church salary is what our local church community can afford as our church members have been generously and regularly giving. However, while the salary we receive is enough to support two people, it falls short when considering raising a child and living in Singapore long-term.

There are additional expenses that go beyond our day-to-day needs we need to account for as we are settling into our new home. As our young church is still growing, we’ll need more time to stabilize our church’s financial situation before our local church can help meet all of our family needs.

Where will the financial resources from our support-raising go towards? The pie chart below shows the breakdown of expenses (how much for what major purpose) – that we will need in addition to the day-to-day expenses. The most significant portion of our needs comes with our first child we are expecting near the end of this year. In order to help stabilize and settle in long-term, we will need to raise an additional $32,800 this year.
